Sigmund Freud defines this as the latency stage where aggressive and sexual urges are introverted. Others theorists have highlighted this stage as very crucial in the development of personality, cognitive skills, inter-personal relationships and motivation. Furthermore, it is at this growth stage that peers and school have great impacts, either positive or negative, to the individual. In schools, the children also learn and develop interests in other co-curricular activities such as sports, arts and music. However, as they grow, the necessary skills for achieving success in academics tend to become more sophisticated. Those who overcome these challenges end up being academic conquerors but those who are overwhelmed perform poorly in the subsequent years. One’s family at this growth stage also plays an important role especially in socialization. The parents, for instance, have the responsibility to make negotiation with the socialization agents on behalf of the child. Emily Brontes Wuthering Heights - A Great Romantic Novel Essay

Wuthering Heights: A Great Romantic Novel      Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The Romantic Period was a very imaginative and creative period of thinking. The literature produced during this period reflected this wild and free-spirited imagination. The works dismissed the Enlightenment thinkers in their claims of "Reason, progress, and universal truths" (Damrosch, 1317). Instead, these writers explored superstitions and had a renewed sense of passion for the wild, the unfamiliar, the irregular, and the irrational (Damrosch, 1317). Other common elements of the writing during this period were the returned interest of gothic romance elements, a fascination of exploring the inner world of the mind and the unconscious into its dark side, an interest in emotional adventures in exotic and remote times and places, an interest in the outcast people in society (outlaws, rebels, nonconformists, exiles, etc.), and an interest in characters performing dangerous self-explorations that take them to hell, and not always back (Agatucci, 1&3).    Wuthering Heights, by Emily Bronte, is an excellent example of a great Romantic novel, especially of the kind of romanticism known as Dark Romanticism. There are many different Romantic elements found in this novel, making it a masterpiece of the period. These elements include that fact that it is most definitely one strange story that is very original, emotionally charged, and imaginative and innovative (Agatucci, 4); its characters are very intense, passionate, go to emotional excesses, and even become violent; and it deals with the element of the supernatural and the antirational also (Agatucci, 4). Other Romantic elements contained within its pages include its Gothic setting that is sensual but remote, the dark roma... ...d Heathcliff.    Thus, as you can see, this is indeed a very powerful, emotionally charged story that delves into the darkness of the human unconscious, the supernatural forces that surround reality, and the romantic charges that initiate and cause all sorts of different human actions and thought. The story is very strange, but full of adventure, creating a very engrossing reading. Thesis Statement Should teachers have the authority to remove a disruptive student form their classroom permanently? Teachers work really hard to promote a happy, healthy, and safe learning environment for all of their students. Teachers dedicate themselves, with sacrifice and determination to ensure that their students have the tools they need to learn and to promote the grown of learning for each individual. Most students in each classroom work hard and dedicate themselves throughout the school year to learn.This includes studying day, and night, attending school regularly, obtaining good grades, and behaving according to the best of their ability. If there is a student who is disruptive, it would not only effect the disruptive student, but it puts a hold on the learning lesson for every student. That is very unfortunate because some students really want to learn. Having a disruptive student makes is difficult for a teacher to teach and it only takes one or two disruptive students to completely corrupt an entire lesson plan.Teachers do not have enough time as it is to cram all this information in by the end of one school year to have to waste their time dealing with disruptive students. The classroom is a place for quiet learning, and respect for others right to learn. If you have a student who is being disrespectful who has gotten away with being disrespectful, it would be very hard to change it all around.You, as a teacher has to let them know whom it is that is actually in charge. There are strategies that you may want to take to try and assist you in this situation. Try calling home. When you call home and ask to speak to their parents, and even calling home perhaps while standing in front of the misbehaved student, may help to get them to change their attitude for that day, and give them the opportunity to accept how they have been behaving. It may also help out by being an example or the other students, so they can behave accordingly as well.Since students are disruptive, (on account to behavior issues mostly), and still you know that some of those students may even have potential aside to their behavioral issues, you may try to even reason with them. Sometimes, trying to have an open mind about what is really causing the student to misbehave may help the situation. Most of the time disruptive students bring so much of themselves to the classroom, because it may be an attention call for inner help.Try to listen to them and see what it is that makes them â€Å"them†, what it is that makes them think, and finding out their interest. By learning and understanding what it is that gives them motivation, could allow you to shape their learning experience, and support how they think, so they too can grow with the classroom. Havisham uses colour in a more traditional and stereotypical sense i. e. dark green pebbles for eyes, this illustrating the speakers envy. However, The two of us is written more uniquely; this shown through the cluster of similes in the fifth stanza; Like Im some cutting taken from the tree Like Im some twig related to the root. The speaker emphasises that they are actually related and could possibly be twins. There are also similarities and differences between the two poems in terms of language. Both use juxtapositions but for different purposes. In The Two of Us it provides a contrast between rich and poor whilst in Havisham in expresses her feelings for her lover, Beloved sweetheart bastard. However, both poems have unique features to portray thoughts and feelings. The pathetic fallacy in The Two of Us allows the reader to empathise towards the poor conditions the speaker lives in; Rain to racket on the metal roof The harsh sounding alliteration makes the weather seem a lot tougher and therefore the conditions he faces a lot tougher. This makes the rich brother a more unlikeable character because he has not helped the poor one. Havisham uses different language techniques to portray the message of the poem. Both are overpowered by the need to consume the life of their victim. Though they use different strategies to carry out the murders in different ways, obsession is the driving force in both. It is this obsession that inspires them to design cunning strategies and carry out the executions. The obsession of Montresor in "The Cask of Amontillado" and of the narrator in "The Tell-Tale Heart" is obvious throughout the stories. The narrator in "The Tell-Tale Heart" is actually obsessed with the old man's eye, rather than the old man himself. It is this obsession with the eye that drives him to commit the murder, despite his relatively good feelings toward the old man personally. This is why he is unable to harm the old man when the eye is concealed. His obsession with the eye is what controls him and his actions. Without it in sight to enrage this obsession, he is unable to harm the old man. This also is why he must shine the lantern light upon only that eye. By leaving the rest of the old man in the dark, he in a sense de-humanizes the victim. His obsession intensifies and takes full control of his actions. He eliminates the old man from the equation and is able to charge him and make the kill. Montresor in "The Cask of Amontillado" is similar to the narrator in "The Tell-Tale Heart" in that his obsession with consuming the soul of Fortunato influences his every action. However, it is with Fortunato himself that he is obsessed. He feeds off of Fortunato's pain, unlike the narrator in "The Tell-Tale Heart" who's obsession is with destroying a menacing inanimate object. Montresor's entire conspiracy is focused around making Fortunato suffer, and for him to know just who is causing this suffering. This is why he goes to such lengths to put together this intricate strategy. It could have been so much easier to kill Fortunato in some easier, quicker way. Instead, he dedicates himself to torturing Fortunato. He creates a plan that leads Fortunato into the depths of the catacombs beneath his home, and kills him in an excruciating manner.

Southwestern University (SWU), located 30 miles southwest of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, has witnessed tremendous growth in its football program. With that growth, fueled by the hiring of legendary coach Bo Pitterno, has come more fame, the need for a bigger stadium, and more complaints about seating, parking, long lines, and concession stand prices.Southwestern Universitys president, Dr. Marty Starr, was not only concerned about the cost of expanding the existing stadium versus building a new stadium, but also about the ancillary activities. He wants to be sure that these various support activities generate revenue adequate to pay for themselves. Consequently, he wants the parking lots, game programs, and food service to all be handled as profit centers. At a recent meeting discussing the new stadium, Starr told the stadium manager, Hank Maddux, to develop a break-even chart and related data for each of the centers.He instructed Maddux to have the food service area break-even r eport ready for the next meeting. After discussion with other facility managers and his subordinates, Maddux developed the table below.
